Welcome to Edline - If you are already familiar with the Edline system please click here to enter now. You can enter Edline by going to www.edline.net or from the YCS Website at www.ycsweb.com and click on the Edline button at the top.

The Edline system will allow communication between teachers, students, parents and administrators to exist in a way that makes access to grades, homework and comments quick and easy.

Youngstown Christian has begun the journey into the future incorporating this new technology. The process has just begun and we are dedicated to improving our use of this technology. Please be patient with us as we continue to implement this system. Our teaching staff has been aggressively learning this new system. Please notify Mr. Breidenstein of any comments, concerns or problems that you experience with the system. You can email him at mrb@ycsweb.com.

Here's what you will receive with Edline:

All teachers will be uploading grades at least once every two weeks. This will allow you to keep track of your students progress. This grade report will be listed on the right side under the Contents section of Edline with the heading Current Grades.

Current Grades - When you click Current Grades you will receive a short grade report. Click here to see a sample of this report. Below is the information section of the report. It shows several items:

1. School Name                        2. Date of Report                        3. Student Name
4. Teacher Name                      5. Class                                       6. Course ID

Final Grade: 89

                                   Name Score Grd
                                   Term #1 640.0 93
                                   Term #2 418.0 84
Comment: Aaron is doing fine but needs to work on homework a little more.

All these items are basic understandable information. But here are the details on grades.

Final Average - This is the average of all the term grades to this point. It is not an accurate final average because the report is only up to a certain time. It is an accurate final average if the grading period was to end at this time.

Final Grade - This is the same as Final Average.

Score Information - This is the section that will give you the actual grading information. It will show grades by terms. Based on the date of this report, Term #1 is completed and that grade is the grade received for Term #1. The Term #2 grade is the grade the student has up to the date of the report. If a report is given 2 weeks into a 10 week term, that is the grade the student has at this time but is not the grade they would get on the report card unless the term ended today.

Comment - This is the section the teacher can use to place a comment about the student. If there is no need for a comment, then this line will not appear.

These reports will be updated at least once every two weeks. The date at the top will be different for each teacher but will reflect the grade earned up to that date.

Homework - Homework, assignments and class information will be posted in the class calendar. Each teacher will post information in their own method.

At this time, all teachers have been trained in the Edline system and have begun posting information except the following:

1. Kindergarten and Pre-school have no real use for Grades and at this time have not been set up with the system.
2. Grades 1 and Grades 2 are not yet converted. They have had a different report card and grading system than the other classes. We are hoping to convert them to using GradeQuick and the Edline System shortly.

We have plans to increase the amount of use we give the Edline System. At the present time, we are only implementing about 25% of the features that Edline has to offer. But just getting our staff and computer systems to this point has been a challenge. We are continuing to strive toward increased technology in the classroom. We hope to increase the Edline System each and every year until we reach 90% or more of the available features it has to offer.

Thank You
